SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, recently recognised 6 volunteers with a Gildea Award for their outstanding commitment within the Armed Forces community.

The Sir James Gildea Awards – named after the founder of SSAFA - were created to recognise volunteers for their exceptional contribution and commitment to SSAFA’s activities and values.

At the recent SSAFA Somerset AGM, it was with great pleasure that Brigadier Richard Toomey CBE, DL, Deputy Lord Lieutenant, presented the awards to:

Phil Smith, Keith Powis, Paul Denovan, Pauline Homeshaw MBE, Sheryl Vincent, Peter Lapping.
