Successful golf day raises hundreds of pounds for SSAFA
01 July 2024
Hundreds of pounds have been raised locally to support the work of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, by keen local golfers.
In perfect conditions, 38 people in 10 teams enjoyed the charms and challenges of Yelverton Golf Club on May 17 for the annual charity golf day, organised by the Plymouth Branch of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, and raised £791 to help veterans, local service personnel and their families.
The winning team, Bohemians Two, took away the first prize of a fourball awarded by Yelverton Golf Course.
Colin Stockman, the chairman of the Plymouth branch said: “Thanks to the generosity of Yelverton Golf Club and local supporters of our charity, we have had a good day’s golf with the added benefit of raising funds to enable our Branch to continue to support serving personnel, veterans and their families in our City in their time of need.”
SSAFA Plymouth is always keen to encourage more volunteers to help the branch continue its good work in the community. To find out more about the charity, volunteering opportunities and upcoming fundraising events, visit ssafa.org.uk/plymouth
