SSAFA Plymouth supports Plymouth Military Wives Choir event
01 July 2024
The Plymouth branch of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is proud to have supported the Plymouth Military Wives Choir and raise money for two worthy causes.
The two local branches came together for the Plymouth Military Wives Choir's ‘Stronger Together’ concert held at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel on May 11.
The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Plymouth, Councillor and Mrs. Mark Shayer, along with friends, families and supporters, helped raise a total of nearly £2,000, shared between the Military Wives Choir and the Plymouth branch of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, whose team had organised a very successful raffle on the night. These funds will enable the branch to continue supporting local service personnel, veterans and their families.
Plymouth Military Wives Choir help connect women in the military community and create a support network through a shared love of singing.
Colin Stockman, chairman of SSAFA Plymouth, said: “This wonderful evening was the culmination of a year’s work by the Military Wives Choir and our Branch, ably supported by the staff of the Duke of Cornwall hotel. We are all very grateful for the support of the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress at what was almost their last official engagement of the year in office.”
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, provides direct support for the UK military’s serving personnel, veterans and their families, who are in need of physical and emotional care.
