All the fun of the ball at annual SSAFA Plymouth fundraiser
15 July 2024
On Saturday 8th June, the Plymouth Branch of SSAFA, The Armed Forces Charity held its annual fundraising ball in the magnificent and historic Commando Forces Officers' Mess at Royal Marine Barracks, Stonehouse, thanks to the generosity of Colonel Simon Dean, RM, the mess president. Our supporters and friends enjoyed a splendid evening of good food, wine and good company, as well as live entertainment, dancing and a successful raffle and auction of fabulous prizes.
SSAFA provides a range of services nationally and locally, including practical emotional and financial support to serving personnel, veterans and their families and is the one charity military that families can depend upon for their entire life. Each year, the call on SSAFA services locally continues apace but increases in complexity.
The Plymouth branch of SSAFA is always seeking new volunteers. You can find out more about opportunities, fundraising and upcoming events at ssafa.org.uk/plymouth
The Plymouth Branch of SSAFA, The Armed Forces Charity set up its awareness gazebo amongst hundreds of other local charities and organisations, both military and civilian, on Plymouth Hoe for this year's Armed Forces Day. A small band of willing volunteers informed all interested in the work of our charity, established in 1886 locally to serve our serving community, veterans and their families by offering practical, emotional and financial support to those who are in need. It was wonderful to meet some of our recent and past clients and to share how our charity's help in their time of need was critical in helping them overcome difficulties of many kinds.
