UK Armed Forces Rugby to take on Rugby for Heroes in Remembrance Match

UK Armed Forces Rugby Men will be taking on Rugby for Heroes in a Remembrance match at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester on Wednesday 17 November.

UK Armed Forces is the pinnacle of Forces Rugby, drawing the best players from across the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.

Rugby for Heroes works with the rugby community to raise funds and awareness for military personnel who are making the transition to civilian life. The Rugby for Heroes squad is headed up by former England player, and Rugby World Cup winner, Mike Tindall.

SSAFA is the official charity partner for UKAF Rugby Union 2021-2022, including this UK Armed Forces Rugby Men Remembrance match against Rugby for Heroes.

Sir Andrew Gregory, CEO at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, said: “SSAFA is delighted to again be the official charity partner of the United Kingdom Armed Forces Rugby teams, including for this match against Rugby for Heroes in honour of Remembrance Day.

“The period around Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity for personal, institutional and national reflection, and particularly the chance to value those who put others before self in the service of this nation.

“The tri-service rugby teams showcase some of the incredible talent thriving across our Armed Forces, celebrating the values and abilities that exist within the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army and Royal Air Force. SSAFA exists when required, to provide service personnel, veterans and their families with lifelong support whenever and wherever they need us; in that role, we are very proud to be at the heart of the Armed Forces community.”

The match will be held at Kingsholm Stadium, Gloucester on Wednesday 17 November with kick-off at 19:45.
