Electric atmosphere at Chepstow Military Race Day

30 October 2023

There will be many thoroughbreds displayed at the Chepstow Military Race Day on Wednesday, November 8.

The grace, the elegance, the sheer power will captivate, excite, and enthral in equal measure as fans crowd round the latest models from Tesla.

Yes, there will be plenty of noble, four-legged beasts powering their way around the two-mile course, helping to raise funds for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, but the latest four-wheel models from Tesla will also garner some attention.

The Military Race Day at Chepstow is the Forces’ favourite in the racing calendar.

Since 2014, around £200,000 has been raised for SSAFA at the race course, enabling the UK’s oldest tri-service charity to carry on its life-changing work for serving and former Armed Forces personnel, and their families, just as it has since 1885.

Spencer Cutlan of Tesla said: “At Tesla, we have great respect and gratitude for the UK Armed Forces. We demonstrate this through the activities of our very own ‘Veterans in Tesla’ community, and our veteran-specific career pathways.

“Racegoers on November 8 will get an up close and personal look at our Veterans at Tesla Model 3, as well as the record-breaking Model Y. We’ll have members of the community present to talk about Veterans in Tesla and it’s aims of engaging, supporting, recruiting, and nurturing individuals post-service.”

Spencer advises that Tesla will be running a competition to “win” a Tesla for a day. More details will be found at the Tesla stand just inside and to the right of the main entrance. SSAFA will have a stand in the Grandstand and Paddock Bar.

There is a full card of seven races – with a complement of well-known horses, and jockeys, and trainers – on the day, with the first beginning at 12.30pm.
