Carols and a curry for SSAFA’s Christmas fundraiser
24 November 2023
Curry normally comes after Christmas with the remnants of the festive turkey waiting to be used in inventive ways, but this year it will be before on Thursday, December 14, and is part of a charity extravaganza to feature carols and songs.
In aid of SSAFA, this seasonal spectacular Carols and a Curry will take place at The Globe at Hay, Hay-on-Wye, with vocal entertainment provided by the Talgarth Male Voice Choir. Be warned, be prepared, and be of good voice as some audience participation is on the cards.
Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.10pm sharp start, with the curry meal* to be served in the venue’s restaurant after the performance at around 8.30pm.
The evening of entertainment will also features a raffle with prizes, including some donated by local businesses such as Wye Valley Brewery, Westons Cider, Richard Booth’s Bookshop, and The Old Railway Line Garden Centre.
Tickets are priced at £15 per person to include entry to the concert and the slap-up curry meal afterwards. Proceeds from the evening will help fund SSAFA’s life-changing – and in some cases life-saving – work in the Wales and Borders regions.
Annie Lawrie, SSAFA’s fundraiser in Wales, said: “SSAFA’s teams of trained volunteers and employees provide practical, emotional, and financial assistance to the Armed Forces community enabling them to thrive, which we can do only through the generous donations we receive.
“And so, we’d be delighted to see you on December 14 to help us fundraise for SSAFA, which is a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans, and their families in their time of need.”
*Vegetarian and chicken curry options are available.
