A Southampton veteran aims to raise £15,000 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity through running the London Marathon this April.

Ian Haberfield, 39, has previously completed four treks in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity and is about to take on his first marathon to hit £15,000 for the charity.

Ian has already travelled to Iceland, Nepal and Morocco to complete a variety of treks and has raised £10,000 for SSAFA so far.

Ian spent eight years in the Army Air Corp and specialised in communications with helicopters before starting as a Fibre Jointer in Fibre Network Delivery, part of Openreach in Southampton.

Running the London Marathon for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity will be a huge challenge, but the money raised will go towards raising awareness and support for the Armed Forces community.

- Ian Haberfield
A big thank you to Ian Haberfield for signing up as a SSAFA runner in this year's London Marathon. As an employee of one of our corporate partners - Openreach - Ian has always stepped up to the challenge and has raised a vast amount for SSAFA in the past. The money raised will go towards supporting all the work that SSAFA does with the Armed Forces community.
