ARMY CENTRAL FUND AWARDS £160,000 GRANT

08 July 2019

22 August 2018

We are delighted to announce that The Army Central Fund, has awarded £160,000 in two grants to support Norton House Stanford Hall. These grants are:

A capital grant of £100,000 to support capital refurbishment works

A grant of £60,000 to contribute to the Home’s running costs in the first year.

This generous funding ensures that serving Army personnel who will undergo rehabilitation at the newly established Defence National Recovery Centre at Stanford Hall can be easily visited by their families.

The welcoming and supportive environment provided at Norton House will provide much needed emotional and practical support to families at a difficult time. Without Norton House, many families would not be able to afford to be near their injured loved ones whilst they are receiving treatment, causing unnecessary suffering and distress.

These substantial funding awards reflects the long-standing association between The Army Central Fund and SSAFA. By working together, we ensure that the dignity and independence of serving Army personnel and their families is supported.

Norton House Stanford Hall is due to open in the autumn.

We are extremely grateful to the Army Central Fund for their generous donation to help support Norton House, Stanford Hall. This ‘home-from-home’ is an invaluable sanctuary for families as they visit and care for their loved ones, injured on service, throughout their rehabilitation process.

Stanford Hall, which sits next to the new Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre (DNRC) will be a welcoming, friendly place for families and patients to stay, and will play a crucial role in their emotional wellbeing and recovery. We expect it be used by over 1,000 people each year.
