Inverness-shire and Western Isles branch Caseworker climbs Ben Nevis
28 October 2024
Jackie Robertson is a new Caseworker at the Inverness-shire and Western Isles branch of SSAFA. To mark the the 360th anniversary of the Royal Marines she climbed Ben Nevis recently with the RMA Charity, to toast the Corps at the top of the highest point in the UK. The climb was to fundraise for the RMA charity but she wore her SSAFA hat up as far as she could before the wind took over!
To tie in with the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, 137 crosses in memory of the 137 Royal Marines that lost their lives on D-Day went up the mountain with the group. The crosses travelled by sea first with the RMA paddle group and then by land up to the summit of the mountain and placed at the highest war memorial in the UK. The crosses will eventually be used finally at the upcoming Remembrance weekend.
