Confidential support for the whole RAF community

Whatever your rank. Whatever you’re facing. We’ve got your back.

Our team will support you with all of life’s challenges, from relationship issues to money worries, housing troubles to coping with bereavement.

Everything you say will be confidential, and we’re independent of the chain of command.

How can we help?

Looking for someone to talk to? We’ll provide a safe space for you to get anything off your chest. There’s no judgement here – we treat everyone with respect, whatever you tell us.

Or perhaps you’re after more practical support? Our team will work with you to put a plan of action in place, making sure you have everything you need to take control of your situation.

Here are some of the most common issues we help with:

  • Relationship issues
  • Mental health
  • Injury, illness and addiction
  • Housing
  • Money worries
  • Bereavement
  • Adoption, fostering and childcare
  • Family support
  • Equal opportunities, discrimination and harassment
  • Support groups
  • Deployments (pre- and post)

Who can get support?

We’re here for the whole RAF family; for the person behind the uniform and their loved ones. You could be a regular or a reservist. A parent or partner. Living on the base or off it. If you need support for yourself or family support, we’ll help you in any way we can, any time you need us.

Who are we?

We’re a team of welfare officers and social workers, dedicated to helping the RAF community. Our service has been running since 1990, giving us over 30 years of expertise and experience. And we’re part of the wider SSAFA organisation, which is the oldest tri-service charity in the UK.

Useful Resources

SSAFA's RAF Personal Support and Social Work Service is compiling a number of useful resources for the RAF community.  These videos and podcasts provide useful information regarding the service itself as well as advice on mental, physical and financial wellbeing.
