Transitional mentoring for service leavers
Our mentoring helps motivate, support, build resilience and empower service leavers - to fulfil their potential in their new lives outside the military.
My mentor Lesley has been helpful in so many ways. When we first started meeting I just didn’t have a positive mental attitude. I was feeling a bit lost and isolated.
- Tracy, Army Veteran
What help can SSAFA mentors provide?
Our mentors provide long-term, one-to-one, face-to-face support during transition and, for up to two years, post discharge. We work alongside the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army, the Royal Air Force and other key partners to provide this service.
The SSAFA mentor programme is well established in helping those who have recently left the forces, and their families, understand and prosper during the transition to civilian life. Our mentors will provide reassurance in the face of an often daunting time. They will help you with confidence and relationship issues, particularly in relation to the differences between a military and civilian environment.
What should I do now?
If you would like to receive support from SSAFA on your journey into 'Civvy Street', and enroll onto the SSAFA mentor programme, please complete the webform at the bottom of this page.
SSAFA's Mentoring service is only available to people who are in the process of leaving the Armed Forces or who have left within the last 2 years.
